Sneak Peak Photoshoot: Keep on Dreamin'

Hi everyone! I don't know where to start blogging and I should be sleeping now! hehe I haven't been keeping you up to date on scheduled posts/reviews that I have been promising you guys. =___= I feel super bad! Work has been very hectic ever since I came back from a weekend trip out of town. It has been non-stop on top with a deadline to meet. *har har* We are also experiencing some high flooding waters in the South. Our downtown area near riverside is completely flooded, and this week it's going to rain. There will be a high chance of more flooding waters and houses/schools/buildings being submerged in water. The casinos are under water a bit, and are closed for operation. Hrm..I can't wait to see more sun! I just wanted to post something to keep you ladies updated about what's going on in my world and my lag of posts.

I promise I will get them reviews/giveaways posted ASAP.

Here's a picture that a friend of mine took of me during a photo shoot. I am really into photography, but I don't have a nice camera. I am a newby with makeup, fashion, photography. I thought it would be a fun project/day that I would be the model, and he can teach me all the info of operating a DSLR. *Nikon d90 and d7000.

He used them interchangeably back and forth to capture pictures of me. I did my own makeup so it's not professional looking. The outfit is something from my closet that I've accumulated.

So this is just a sneak peeek of the photo shoot that I did in Mid-April. The theme of this photo is : Keep on dreamin'.

I'll keep you posted! Tell me what you think of this photo. I am open to accept critiques! Please do respond!

Snow Days/Winter Storm

I love this picture the most. I am tossing my hat like it's a bouquet of flowers. ^_^ I love it when the city shuts down when there is a snow warning or any type of snow. The city just goes into panic mode. My university was the last to be closed since high schools were let out at 11am (before snow hits) which means there was no point going to work/school! It took me 1hr 45mins to drive back home in the nasty weather with bumper to bumper action (usually 20mins). My car was skidding and there were a bunch of black ice which was very scary! X_X But I managed to get back home safely. Looks like universities and schools are closed for tomorrow, too. The weather here is bipolar, it was sunny yesterday and now we have 6inches of snow. It's not a biggie for me, I like playing in the snow. =)
 Welcome to Memphis weather!
I tried to make a angel snowman, but it was super cold and my fingers were frozen!

I love taking jump shots so I can see how high up I can jump. But, while I was jumping my phone fell out of my pocket. I had lost it and I was looking for my phone in the snow for a while. I was alittle bit worried since my phone was white and was on vibrate mode...which made it harder to find. I found it faced down in the snow and was really wet, but I managed to save it before any damages. =_= whew.

Well, thanks for stopping by and stay warm in the weather. Here's a heart for all my beautiful readers!

DIY: White Box [Light Box] Photography

Hey everyone! I know I've been MIA. Here's an update: I've actually been out of town for my spring break, taking a break from everything going on in my life so I can come back fresh and with a clear mind to TCB [ take care of business]. Sometimes we need a break from our hectic schedule, and I feel like I really needed one and this would be a great opportunity for me despite my job/school schedule.

Here is a DIY: White Box or Light Box that I had done on my spare time after coming back on my trip to showcase my future art projects and creations. I've searched the internet and they have some really great tips out there, so my may not be the best one to get reference from. I will probably modify it to perfect it. so this is a sample one.

Purpose:
1. The object of white box photography is to show details of an object clearly.
2. The white color and light brings out details and provides pleasing highlights to the objects you want to capture on Macro settings.
3. A method for uniformly lighting small objects.

Time: 20mins
Cost: $2USD (just poster board, but many recyclable items, and things that I have found at home)
Materials:
1.  5 11"x14" white poster boards [1.79 from walmart, I think I would be investing in foam board next time since it wasn't as sturdy]

2. Tape [The tape I'm using is clear tape. ]
Recommended: 1" and 2" wide white masking tape. White masking tape is nice and lightweight and if you need to, you can take the tape off to re-adjust. Some stay away from duct tape, as the heat from the lamps makes the glue really messy.  But I did use duct tape to tape the outside of the box so it can hold it's frame.

3. Razor Blade + Straight Edge

4. Recycled Cardboard Box [ you can find this anywhere from grocery stores, wine stores, etc. this would be a frame for the light box to hold your poster boards. Some people like to cut windows so then the poster boards would be taped outside as suppose to inside.]

5. Lamp / Light Bulbs
This is a tutorial so I just used lamps from my house. I didn't get the right light bulb, since this one casts a yellow glaze over all of my pictures. I would be investing in some shop lights from Home Depot or Lowe's and some 100w Daylight Bulbs.
Recommended: StudioLighting.net
I had to make sure I cut the box as close to 11x14 to create a frame for the light box. And I would fold the cut flaps outward and duck tape it to get it secure.
laying down the sheets! and for the left and right side of the box I had to leave it hanging and then trimmed off the excess.
I then used two white sheet of paper to create an curvature with the back of the box. This is very common in creating Light boxes so then there's no shadow or dark area where the boxes are visible. Unfortnatey I don't have  huge white sheet of paper. Below is images from: StudioLighting.com How you should position the lamps and the final outcome of your box. Some people cut an opening on the top to take pictures from above.

"Sometimes I like to shoot the object from a top view. If you cut a hole in the top of the box, this is possible. Be careful not to cut too much, you'll want to score the part you don't cut, that makes it bend with ease."

Here's a photo of the yellow cast the bulbs give my pictures. I had to adjust the color mode on my camera to take the white/natural looking picture. This is an experimental tutorial, of course you can use CS3 to make photos look flawless.
Hope this helps <3 ~yumi

Key Chain & Art Creation

Hey everyone!~ I decided to start on a few projects and sewing techniques on some crafts that I had picked up from a fabric store. I'm excited, but everything is new to me and it is very frustrating to figure out how to stitch fabric on the correct way without the ugly side exposing outward. I will post up a step by step process how I made the bag. My first creation took me forever since I had never used a sewing machine and the thread kept on breaking. =( So tiring and frustrating. Here's  a few photography shots that I took of my cell chain that my friend gave me. Just to post it up here.
Here are the fabric that I bought. I'm excited to make new projects with my own love. Any ideas?
Until Next time,

Snow Day!!

I'm so glad that it's a snow day! It's a miracle! I am spared from my Molecular Cell test, that means more time to study because I sure wasn't ready!!  I decided to take a stroll down the neighborhood to take some pictures, and it's an absolute winter wonderland. It's funny how everyone made a snowman. The snowmen are very unique and cute. Some were so tall and huge. There's one made with chocolate doughnuts for its eyes. I thought it was pretty hilarious. Alright, stay warm everyone!
